Congrats to the repeat Provincial Champions! Sentinel's Tennis Team! |

Congratulations to our Sentinel SR Tennis Team that won 2A Provincials this past weekend. This is a back-to-back performance - as the Tennis Team were also PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS last Spring Season! An amazing accomplishment. Congrats to all players and coaches. |

Congrats to the Junior & Senior Badminton Teams for being NS Champions! |

A big congratulations to both the Junior and Senior Badminton Teams as they were both crowned North Shore Champions! Also, a big thank you to long time community coach Andrew Lee for all the work he does with the Badminton crew! Great job everyone! Good luck to the SENIORS who are hosting the Sea to Sky Zones on Wed May 15th, from 4 pm to 9 pm in the Sentinel main gym. Please come out and cheer on the team! |

Mr. Finch has been a tireless and impactful supporter and difference maker throughout his career as a teacher and administrator to better school sports for all those who participate!

Volleyball Teams - Online Registration now open! |

Online registration MUST be done by a parent/guardian through
eSportsDesk. Online registration now open for all Fall Sports (except
Swimming, coming early the week of Sept 27). Athletes must be
registered online by their PARENTS/GUARDIANS, in order to be allowed to
participate in league or tourney/exhibition play. Athletes cannot register
themselves. |

Field Hockey, Junior Boys' (Gr 8-10) Soccer and Senior Boys' (Gr 11
& 12) Soccer. Online registration for Volleyball Teams will be open

Spring Sports groups will run until the week of (June 21-25) |

Thanks for all students who had their parents register them online for
the Spring Sports offerings! Enjoy your time getting active and
having fun. Practice Sessions will run until the week of June (21-25)
unless your coach tells you otherwise. Take care and stay safe!
We are really hopeful, with the vaccination program proceeding as it
is, that our school sports will be back up and running "like normal"
starting in the Fall sometime. |

Sunday (May 16th) is the last day that a parent/guardian can register
an athlete online (through eSportsDesk) to participate in a Spring
Sport. If YOU are hoping to play, make sure your parent/guardian
registers you through eSportsDesk by Sunday May 16th! And if you
need your eSportsDesk account to have an updated parental email
associated with it, please email sentinelathletics@wvschools.ca ! |

Online registration through eSportsDesk is MANDATORY for parents/guardians |

There is now a zero-tolerance policy if an athlete tries to register
themselves online. The registration fee will be refunded and an email
will go to parents/guardians letting them know. It is possible to have
an existing eSportsDesk account's associated email address
CHANGED. If you need YOURS changed, email
sentinelathletics@wvschools.ca ASAP! You cannot participate in any
Spring Sport until you've been properly registered online. |

Spring Sports starting up in Quarter 4! |
|
Several Spring Sport groups will start up the week of May 10-14,
after a two-week “transition break/breather”. Online registration
for parents/guardians through eSportsDesk will open starting on
Wednesday April 28th, for those sport groups that enough interest
has been shown (by numbers of athletes that have joined the
respective Google Classroom). If not enough interest is shown,
some suggested Sport Groups may not go ahead. So, if YOU are
interested in any of the following Spring Sports, go to the "Gym
Schedule" to get Google Classroom codes for joining: Golf (Co-Ed,
all grades), Gr 8-9 Girls’ Soccer, Track and Field (Co-Ed, all
grades), Gr 8-9 Ultimate (Co-Ed) and Gr 10-12 Ultimate (Co-Ed).
As before, athletes will also be required to bring in at least two
signed forms to their coach for each sport joined. |

Chris Kennedy's announcement about the newly named "Harry Jerome Oval" |
|
Today we announced that the running track at West Vancouver
Secondary will be named “The Harry Jerome Oval”. This is
wonderful news for our students, schools, families and for the
future of sport and community engagement in West Vancouver!
Harry Jerome is one of Canada’s most celebrated athletes who
grew up on the North Shore and competed on our track in the late
1950’s. Harry went on to set seven world spring records and
represented Canada at three Olympic Games.
The West Vancouver Place for Sport will replace West Vancouver
Secondary School’s existing grass field and deteriorated track with
an artificial turf field and new track which will support our
students, sporting clubs and athletic organizations.

West Van Schools' Track renamed - to "The Harry Jerome Oval" |

The District of West Vancouver and West Vancouver Schools has
renamed
the WVSS track "The Harry Jerome Oval". The district has
partnered with
the city of West Vancouver to revitalize the track and field area -
and add
a new track and turf soccer field. The necessary funds needed for
this
project are still be raised so if you are interested in donating
please go to
the West Vancouver Place for Sport website to donate!

Cross Country - Senior Girls Provincial Champions ... again!!! |
|
Congratulations to the Senior Girls Cross Country team who won
their second consecutive Provincial Banner!! The girls recorded an
unbelievable total of 14 (which is the lowest score in provincial
history since 1970). In fact, they'd still have won, even if they used
their 3, 4, 5 and 6 place finishes. Incredible! |
